Art Immersion - New York City


Art Immersion - New York City will center around The Metropolitan Museum's exhibition Sargent And Paris. John Singer Sargent employed a style of realism called "American Renaissance painting" known for vibrant brushstrokes, unique compositions, and the ability to capture subjects' qualities. The exhibition will focus on Sargent's growth while working on paintings while traveling throughout Europe including the influences he encountered from people to plants.


The following long weekend itinerary is a work in progress and is subject to change. The itinerary will become more specific with addresses and times in the months to come:

Prior to departure - 3-Hour class, "Preparing for Sargent" (will be recorded) on preparing for what to look for and how to approach drawing and painting in the "style of" Sargent while in NYC.

Thursday, May 29, 2025 - Metropolitan Museum Exhibition- focused on selected art/ sketching at the museum/ lunch/ Art openings (If we have time we will visit The Frick during the weekend)

Friday, May 30, 2025 - Visit Neue Gallery on 86th/5th Ave prior to painting on location en plein air at The Botanical Gardens in the Bronx/ critiques/ possible evening event

Saturday, May 31, 2025 - On location walk through High Line, en plein air painting at Central Park/ critiques / possible evening event

Sunday, June 1, 2025 - Meeting for final review and lunch

Within 2 weeks of our return - Zoom meeting to review everyone's completed artworks.


FINE PRINT: The instructor fee does not include travel, lodging, meals, ticketed entry fees, additional costs related to personal travel, insurance, or materials. The Art Immersion - New York City fee is entirely an instructor's fee. Participants will be asked to sign a waiver of liability for travel. Travel insurance is recommended.


One partner or friend may accompany the group during group outings such as meals, but are not allowed to stay with the student group during art-making or lecture/critique time periods. Please make suitable arrangements outside of work time to lessen possible distractions.


Recommendations will be given for general locations where to stay, local restaurants and activities in the vicinity prior to travel. Early hotel booking is recommended. Hotels.com, Expedia, and AirBnB are some of the booking sites recommended. Public transportation and taxis are plentiful throughout the city.


Refunds are as follows:  100% Refund if cancelled prior to January 31, 2025


50% Refund if cancelled from February 1, 2024, to February 28, 2025

50% of fee applied to future Art Immersion-Prague 2025, if cancelled between March 1, 2025, to March 31, 2025


No refund for cancellations after March 31, 2025.
