Imagine:
Your easel in the corner of the room is collecting a light layer of dust. The nearby tubes of paint sit unopened, glistening from your palette which hasn’t been used since your last art class. A white canvas waits to be painted if only you had an idea of what to paint. You put off painting another day.
Or,
Perhaps you know you want to create a large series of work for exhibition or sale but aren't sure where to start. Maybe you have been drawing for years, but aren't sure how to move forward with something that feels meaningful and authentic. Or, life has gotten in the way and you need a path back to your creative self.
All artists have been in these exact situations from time to time. The great news is that there are systematic ways to move forward through these "dry spells" and to put together a powerful enough concept to generate enough work for a solo exhibition.
This class will walk you through basic exercises to get your mind focused on what matters most to you, how to find your voice, and how to experiment along the way.
We will spend one class working with AI technology which can be a helpful tool for many artists in need of models or ideas for compositions and lighting.
This class will require writing, sharing ideas, and sketching. I will provide prompts as a tool to launch from for your own ideas and what it will look like to put ideas into actions. We'll look at a variety of artists from painters to sculptors and performance artists to better understand their influences and how they developed their own unforgettable bodies of artwork.
